Welcome
To
Blinkybell's
Home Page
I am so happy you have come
to visit my page, and hope you will enjoy reading about me, my life and
my interests...
Most of you that do visit, are here
because I have invited you, which means you are very special friends to
me. I hope this rather long page will give you a better insight as
to who blinky really is, and hope I don’t bore you too much with
my ramblings...
butterflys...what
can i say...if you can't already guess with so many on my page, i just
adore the little things, but they have a special meaning to me,
they symbolize 'free spirit'
...... of which i am one.
The
Indian legend states:
To have
a wish come true
You
must capture a butterfly,
Whisper
your wish to it and set it free,
The
winged messenger will then take
your
message to the Great Spirit and it will be granted.

since i have been coming to chat,
i have met so many interesting people, and to know that a lot of you are
now really good friends of mine, well, its just the best feeling anyone
can have.
a few of my irl friends think i
am a fool, and even make jokes about me being on the computer talking to
my 'cyber' friends so much. well all i can say is @$%#@#$ to them.
i would be lost without you, so i am afraid you are stuck with me for a
while longer.
i am sure there will be others
who will come visiting and they are very welcome to get to know me through
reading about me too, and maybe they will become my friends also.
now to get on with 'blinkybell'
and her life .....

Geez!! the problem I have now
is ummmmmm… where do I start? Hmmmmm…. Ok, I will start at the beginning. |
I was born in the kluang military
hospital, in the state of perak, malaya (as it was called back then) on
16th december 1957 (yes!! that makes me 41 now, just don’t rub
it in ok!!!!!). ohhh
... and i am a sagittarian for those that are not sure of their zodiac
signs.
My mother, who is australian,
was a red cross nurse working there when she met my father (dec.) who was
british, also working there but as a police officer.
i am the middle child of five (5)
children, i have an older sister and a brother (dec.) and a younger brother
and sister. |
 |
later, in one of my updates, i will
be writing about the two (2) very special men in my life, my older brother...and
my dad. i was very close to them both and i miss them so very much
.... i had alot of adventures with both of them, some funny and some not,
but they are memories i will never forget.
we moved from perak when i was
2yrs of age to england, where after a couple of moves eventually settled
in a village called stanford-in-the-vale, which was in the county of berkshire.
this was a small farming village where kids felt they were in heaven.
there were so many things that we could get up to or into its a wonder
any of us are still alive today. those years spent in that village
as a child will remain with me for the rest of my life .... some day soon
i will write about the punt we used to paddle in and of course my first
kiss.
Stanford in the Vale is about
70 miles from London and 20 miles from Oxford.
we lived about 5 miles from Wantage
where King Alfred was supposed to have burnt some cakes nearly causing
a disastrous fire. his statue stands in the town center. i
used to go to ikneild high school, which was situated in Wantage. |
|
anyway at the age of 13yrs we packed
up, hopped on a ship (aaahhh...the ship romance) ... and came to
perth, western australia. those first 4 years in australia were very
rebellious years for me. i hated the change and couldn't understand
why we had to come here. i made friends with the 'wrong crowd', my
parents never knew what i got up too when i was 'out with friends', but
i can tell you, it was trouble. luckily for me i could charm
a dead bird off a tree, and my parents never found out the talks i had
with the police.
whoops!!! ... i hope my mum never
reads this page... |
'image(c)KittyRoach'
|
anyway, i met my first husband at
the ripe old age of 16yrs, we were married in 1976 when i was 18yrs
and divorced when i was 19yrs. i married my second husband
in 1981 when i was 24yrs, we lived together for 2yrs before that.
we divorced about 2yrs later. from then on i swore i would never
marry or get serious with another man ... and i haven't. relationships
just scare me too much now to even try.
when i got married for the
second time, the family up and moved to the state of victoria, australia,
reason being, my mum was born and raised there. even after my divorce
i stayed in perth, western australia, which is sad now because victoria
is just too far away to just jump in the car and pop over for a coffee
and a chat like my daughter does. i miss my family terribly,
especially when there is a birthday party or it is christmas and i know
they are all spending it together. we constantly keep in touch by
phone though ... but its not the same is it!!

now for a little
information about australia
 |
Lying on and extending south from
the Tropic of Capricorn. With an area covering 7,682,300 km²
it is the sixth largest country of the world after Russia, Canada, China,
the US and Brazil.
The coastline, consisting of gorgeous
bays, beautiful beaches with dynamitic surf, rocky outcrops and dramatic
sheer cliffs is 36,735km long.
Australia is surrounded by the
Arafura Sea to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Southern
Ocean to the south and the Indian Ocean to the west. |
I
have two (2) terrific children, who were both born here in perth.
This is a
pic of me with my two darlings
that's me with
udigots on the left and winnie
on the right
(there cyber names of course)
i love
these two children of mine so much and
i am so proud of what they
have accomplished ....
by the way...the only time
you will see the 'L' word
typed or spoken by me ever
will be in reference with my family,
(just one of my little quirky
things lol!!)
Paula
Ok... that's enough of that
personal stuff ....... these are my other subjects
passions
|
my computer, its becoming a real passion
to me, i get up in the morning and turn my computer on and then i
find its so hard to get off and go to work, and then i get home from work
and its a quick hello to my son and on the computer i go, yes i know!!
its that word, the 'a' word!! im a..a..addicted, aaaaahhhhhhh!!!
but you must know what i mean? .... come on be honest, i bet you are the
same!! at least i am honest enough to admit that i am 'a ..a..an
a.. a.. addict' phew said it again, sorry about the stutter).
comic
chat and the #newbies room...
now!! when i get into comic
chat and go to the #newbies room, well the fun i have with all
my friends there, its great, we have a ball. i will admit, i have
had a very quick look into ... aaah dare i say it.....other rooms, but
i always go back to #newbies, maybe i should stay longer in the other rooms
and give them a chance but i just enjoy #newbies so much i think 'why bother',
maybe one day if it becomes boring, which i can never, ever see happening,
i will have a better look around ... not.
This is me 'blinky'...
my avatar (character) was made
for me by
mr bug sir or outcast
as i have always known him, he is so talented ...pretty kewl huh!!
i look quite ferocious when i have the plate in my hand, so if u see it,
you had better duck!!....hehehe!!
you will always find me in the
'#newbies' room, so come chat with me and have fun.
if u would like to see how outcast
(MrBugSir) created me just click on the 'blinky's avatar' link at the bottom
of this page or maybe even here!

icq
then there is 'icq'
now what can i say about that little chat line, lots and lots actually,
just too much to put on this page. for now though i will say
'icq' is a wonderful chat line that should have been invented years ago,
its incredible!! so much more is said and talked on it, this is the place
where you really get to know a person. |
© Mirabilis |
this is the place where you sit back,
relax and chat to your heart's content, or fight and bicker, depending
on what is happening in your life at the time. you can send pictures,
wav's and well just about anything to each other, the only thing
that cannot be sent is the person you are talking too, which sometimes
is a real shame (please see my frustrations
section).
net
meeting
net meeting, wow!! another great
invention, I have had netmeetings with a few friends now and i am hooked,
its like having someone in the room without actually having them there,
... does that makes sense? i think everyone should net meet.
it felt really strange at first (OutCast was my first), i was very nervous,
but after a few times of net meeting i am now quite relaxed. i want
to net meet with all my friends but they don't all have a net meeting facility
on there computer *pout* which is a real bummer, but i am working on them
gently to get it, then we can chat properly. also its a darn lot
cheaper than the phone...
phone
the phone!! Hmmmmm this is still
used occasionally it seems. i have spoken to a couple of my 'cyber'
friends now on this contraption, which i must admit really spun me out
at first, it seems really funny to actually talk to you IRL, especially
if we haven't spoken on net meeting. we had a whole lot of fun though
didn't we and i really hope to do it again soon.
frustrations
|
well the frustrations i have sometimes
when talking to my friends on icq or chat is ... i can't give them a *hug*
or have a *cuddle* that is just so frustrating it nearly kills me sometimes!!
i like to give hugs but there is nothing
i can do about it, is there??
when i know a friend is upset about
anything or really happy about something that has happened to them, all
i want to do is hold them, but being on this thing makes it very hard to
do... well!! it would look a bit strange if anyone walked into the room
and saw me cuddling the monitor now, wouldn't it!! and the same for
me too, sometimes i need a *hug* i know that as my friend you have tried
to send that feeling over the net but it's not the same as the real thing
is it ... so anyway, that is my pet frustration.

i really like to curl up in a
chair with a good book. It can be anything from a
horror story by steven king, a
real who dunnit by patricia Cornwell or a true romance by catherine
Cookson, it doesn't matter, i just like reading.
i like the sea and the sand.
strolling along the beach with the water lapping at my feet is the best
feeling ever ... especially if you need to think about anything, or even
just walking with someone special, i find it very relaxing and soothing.
i just wish i could get to the beach more often. when i am going
through a bad patch, which i am thankful to say hasn't happened for quite
awhile, i used to walk for miles along the beach, which i am lucky to say
is only about 10 minutes or less drive away from my home.
dislikes
|
i dislike kids that do drugs and get
drunk, i've seen a bit of it when i am on duty (see interests). i've
seen kids being carted off to the hospital in an ambulance, it's really
upsetting!! don't they know what it is doing to them? i see the parents
come to pick there kids up from a concert really upset, but the kids don't
see that.....they see a parent that is angry. one day i hope
they will understand, but by then it might be too late ....i
hope not !!
Another thing I dislike bvery much
grrrrr! is when in #Newbies you are in the middle of helping someone and
all of a sudden they say "I have to go now, bye". that is so damn friggin
annoying!! We, who help in #Newbies, find it a real waste of time, especially
as we could be helping someone else who really needed it.
i dislike people that drive too
slow on the right hand side of a 2 lane dual carriage way, actually it
really pisses me off!!! i also dislike intensely people that
go real slow but as soon as you try to over take them they speed
up, now that really does piss me off!! ...
especially as I have received a couple of speeding tickets because of drongoes
like that.

St Johns Ambulance Australia
my main interest started when
i did a st john work place first aid course. after about 3 months
i started to wonder about keeping up the skills i had learnt, so i made
some inquiries and decided to join the st john ambulance WA operations
volunteers.
i have been with an adult division
for nearly 3 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
i have completed an advanced first aid level 1 certificate and also
an officers grade 5 course. In 1998 i did an assistant trainers course
and this year (1999), I completed the advanced first aid level 2D
(the D stands for defib) certificate and am now hoping to complete a Communications
course and Driver awarness Course this year.

my home page is still not
finished yet, i will be adding to it every now and then but for now
i felt it was time for me to share a bit of my life with you (must be a
40ish thingy) so i hope you enjoyed reading this page with snippets
of my life, and maybe you will understand why i am a little 'quirky' every
now and then and forgive me... *cheeky grin*
before i close off though,
there is a person i would like to thank...
and that is ... outcast
('mr bug sir' ) for his patience with me and help with the links to other
places plus a couple of suggestions he made to me to make this page
a little more interesting for you...thank you darling.
